Default knock sensor for a B16

i did my swap about a year ago and i get a CEl. It's for a bad knock sensor. now dose it hurt my motor or will it be fine? Because sometimes it will go into v tec and sometimes it wont. could this be the reason ? If so will any knock sensor work? B,D H ??or do i just need one for a B motor. thanks

it will retard the motor to prevent detination, so your car will be slightly slower, but it should not affect vtec , i had a bad one on my car for 3 months and vtec was never affected

I was always told knock will keep v-tec from engaging. I've seen it not engage when the knock sensor is unpluged and another guy said his still hit vtec. Dunno why or what is causing it to work and not to but those are my experiences. I just grounded the wire for mine on the therm housing like the rest of the engine harness no problems with codes here.

I had the same problems on my b16. First, for the vtec, change your oil or atleast make sure its full. Second, for the knock sensor, make sure that it is tight or it will throw the code. Mine was just a little loose and it threw the code right away.

haha... I couldn't get my bad sensor out of my block, so I found a hole on the tranny and screwed it int there. No more knock! YAY! Oh yeah, when the car hasn't really heated up, you'll get VTEC at 5200, after the CEL code comes on, you''[ hit VTEC at around 6500 to 7000. That's about a 20hp loss. Swap it man. Too bad they're 150 bucks from Honda. Actually, just get an ECU chip from EBay. That's my .02

The knock sensor is located right above the oil filter. It is best to reach from the bottom of the car i found. If u reach up there, its a little above and to the left of the oil filter, right underneath the intake manifold, between runners 2&3.
