IDRC PRO-AM CLASSES!! FWD, RWD/AWD and the NEW ALL MOTOR!!
The IDRC introduces new classes for the Racers! We are happy to announce the addition of the PRO-AM All Motor class to the line up along with the PRO-AM FWD and PRO-AM RWD/AWD.
We believe this is the future of the sport of Import Drag Racing. We are working hard to keep costs down and keep competition at its best! These three classes will be our benchmark for the 2004 season. We will be concentration on marketing and promoting the PRO-AM classes to gain the racers the respect they deserve.
Rules for the new PRO-AM All Motor class are the same as the FWD Class but obvisouly with no power adders.
For complete rules please go to http://www.importdrag.com
Hope to see you at the races! We will feature our PRO-AM Classes at the three remaining events:
-Sept. 27-28 - East Coast Finals - Maplegrove Raceway, PA
-Oct. 4-5 - Compact Car Invasion - Firebird Raceway, AZ
-Nov. 22-23 - International Finals - LACR, CA

if this is executed properly... this would be the best thing to have happened to import racing in a long long time.
keeping track of legitamate records and featuring the dominant racers in your magazine would be great...
cant wait til next year. maybe even a points series for the pro am classes too? b/c alot of us do travel for events.

We are putting all our efforts into our new PRO-AM Classes. We are looking into doing a point series for the PRO-AM Classes for next year. The more interest we get at our office from the racers the more likely it will happen so dont be afraid and call or email us!!
We are already in the works for DRAG Sport to cover more PRO-AM cars and Event Coverage...
Look forward to hearing your comments!

finally! YAYYY!!!
as far as making it a points series, that would be great! icing on the cake really. to keep it reasonable maybe you should divide it into regional championships. alot of people travel yes but thats asking alot for most people.
THANKS IDRC see you in 04!

Thats good news, a point series for pro am would make it awesome, id attend more events no matter what. Just pay up
yeah there would be a definite entiesement for racers to travel a bit more if there were being points offered per race and a purse at the end of the season to the champ.

WHats the weight rules?
Do a point series but as a regional point series .
In that way its still an amateur level.

Looking at the participation at MIR for the three classes it was great and some incredibly close races as well.
Thanks for looking out for the small guys?
Now let's make sure everyone makes it to Maple Grove.

Sounds like a great idea..There are a lot of cars in the NJ MD VA DC area for these classes...How about making sure the cars fit the rules, by doing a better job during tech. (That will solve alot of problems later in the race weekend!)

Good point Charlie.
I.E. No ITB's
No lexan/plexiglass no matter if its a 1/4 window or not..
Things like that **** people off because if they are conforming to the rules to make a fast car, and someone doesnt, and they win...then whats the point?
That just says that you can break the rules (either by a mile or by a hair) and get away with it, let alone win a race illegally.
That always leaves a sour taste in someones mouth.

idrc will HAVE to address these things in the new class:
1. weight, based on car or displacement??
2. slick size
3. ITB's or not
obviously no fuel cells or lexan will be allowed.

Nah I would not race at LACR in the summer time. Way too windy for people and cars. Well that is what I think! It is like a sand storm.
So I guess you'll be there Charlie with a 1/4 chance of you driving then? Saw the 188 mph trap from out in Cali, must me making alot of power in the saturn.
Seeya sometime.
