Default need help from some car veterans

My ITR is stock engine wise, in the past week I've noticed a jerkiness in the throttle and pull of the car while cruising on the highway. It feels like a slight loss of power and jerks you for a split second. I thought it was the plugs, wires or injectors but they all checked out fine. The car has 33,000 miles on it and has been pretty pampered all its life. I've had a few people look at it and they cant diagnose the problem. If anyone has experienced this problem or can shed some light on a source I would be extremely grateful. thnx

Hard to say. How is the idle? If it is rough, perhaps your timing is off. Or there's a vacuum leak.

Any other symptoms?

bad gas?
getting a check engine light?

you could try new plugs and a cap and rotor - Autozone has OEM ITR plugs for like $7 a piece, and the cap and rotor is like $20 from the dealer...

other things I would check:
Throttle cable tension / lubrication
Air Cleaner (ummm is it clean?)
Spark Plug wires
ignition timing
reset ecu...
fuel filter
carbon buildup on throttle plate (clean that chit out man!) or intake manifold

good luck

Any update on your situataion? If you only have 33k miles on your car, maybe it would be easier to just drop it off at a dealership. Take it to Baranco and ask for TJ, if you want a peace of mind. (Granted, there's Len there. )

I had similar problem with my 01. I had bad sluggishiness/jerkyness/loss of power at lower rpms, especially when cold...and lot of times at high rpm even when warmed up. Took it to places they couldnt figure it out. Finally I talked to TJ at Baranco, they keept it and ended up it it was the distributor/rotor/button assembly.

Call up Baranco and talk to TJ is my advice.

Hey guys, I have the car at my freinds shop right now trying to swap out parts to see if we can figure anything out. There is no check engine light and the idle is perfect. Like jetydosa said the problem arises at low rpms when you are not WOT, but cruising. Thnx for the suggestions to talk to TJ and all the advise. If anyone else can shed some light I would appreciate it. Cliff

I had very similar symptoms before caused by a bad ignitor.

I think im going to go ahead and change the rotor, cap and and plugs to see if it helps. I will also check the ignitor... could this be an injector problem?

Probably not the case but check your throttle cable. Especially if you tightened up the slack on it.

most likely not.. change plugs/wires and rotor first, check timing as well..
