hey, a bunch of my friends and I are planning on going to a local drag stip for some fun this weekend.

I'm taking out some of my interior, changed my MT fluid and chaning motor oil tommorow.

Anybody have any advice on what and what NOT to do????


this will be my first time racing my car so I'd like to do it properly so I don't blow my clutch like my buddie did

just be calm, and smooth. Get to the staging lanes, and get your rev's to the area that you want to be in. I ussually do a couple of practice drops on the street to find an approximate area where not to much power is lost, as well as not to high that I spin my my tires out. I personally feather the clutch out, but other members just drop the clutch. Try both out, and see what combination works for you.

Don't get nervous. Shift true, and clean. I remember the very first time I ran, I was sweating, palms were shaking, and I could hear my heart beating. Taking in big gulps of air, and needlessto say I bogged the launch and the run.

So don't get down if you mess up, practice makes perfect. Now when I drag, ofcourse i'm nervous, but not nearly of that level when I first started. After the launch, the rest is butter. (Just shift clean, or you'll be like those fools who mishift down the track, and you can see them through the glass hitting their dash is dismay....)
