Default I am new and i have a question about the fuel system?

What is a stand alone fuel management system. What does it consist of and where can i buy one. Reason i am asking this is becuase i hear a lot of people talking about it and how good it is for turbos. I plan on getting a turbo.

Thanks for your help

a standalone is a completely new ecu... u genrerally take out your ecu and the whole wiring harness and replace it with a new ocmputer and ecu... the computer i am most familiar with is accel's dfi... when put in... it controls every aspect of the motor... new sensors are put in, and the unit has to be tuned via a laptop... fuel curves, timing curves, etc... everything has to be tuned in...

as for boost... the stock ecu does not read boost... hence the need for fmu's and check valves... the ecu will throw a code if it does read any... to add to it the curves on a stock ecu arent good enough once u really get into modding ur car... AND the stock map sensor wont work either... there is more to it but this is just a general run-down

oh... and they are expensive... the new dfi minus the o2 option runs a little under 2000 to my knowledge... not including instalation... and i would suggest to get it done... if u wire it wrong... u will burn the box and need to get a new one... which is not cheap
