Default Garrett GT series vs Precision

I know a precision sc61 is a monster and makes amazing power. But what about the Garrett GT series turbos. a GT30 is about twice that of an SC61 but is it worth it? I recently aquired a source who can get garrett parts at cost so im thinking of getting something crazy like a GT30 .63a/r 52 trim. Don't the GT series and Precision encorporate lots of similar parts?

How much power do these things support and at about what RPM do they spool with an equal length manifold (full-race, lets say).

thanks for the comments,
Ryan

so the wheel of a gt30 and a precision sc61 would be the same - minus the ball bearings?

correct. but, it is the 56 trim gt30 wheel from the -15 gt cartridge. the 52 trim gt30 -18 cartridge is no longer available.
hope this helps

ken,
so, respectivly there is no difference between a gt30 and sc61 besides the trim and spool up (or will the spool up times be relatively identical).

the gt series use a different shaft which is smaller in dia, but weighs less.

Also the GT turbines are different, the sc61 uses a stage 5 wheel, the GT uses a GT wheel.

it's not cheap to do efficiency testing etc, as well as design of wheels...

the GT series spools fastrr, the new design of the wheel gives more thrust than conventional, the bal beraing makes it spool quite abit faster.

Ken,

the SC61 uses the Compressor wheel out of the GT30R with the -0014 CHRA. The 82mm, 56 Trim GT40 compressor. The -0015 is the 76mm 56 Trim. 10 lb/min less flow. The 82mm/56 Trim can also be found iin some GT35R's.
