Get the jdm itr pistons. You will have around 11.3 or so comp (with a gsr head). You can get the spoon's but the only difference is they are balanced. If you are wanting to rev higher than @7k. Then I would think about getting a block girdle (z10 makes a nice one). good luck.
I seriously suggest sitting down and writing down all your expected expenses. This is not as cheap an alternative as most may think. The block girdle is a good idea. You can also modify a gsr one (may preference and cheaper too).
Email me is you got any more Q's. I'm finishing mine right now.

how much is a block girdle? and what does it do? im going to be using a 99' b16 head so will the jdm type r spoon pistons work as well?

A block girdle is around $300 with all the parts needed I believe.
It supports the main caps so there isnt as much vibration at higher RPMs which in turn helps keep the bearings in better shape.
Honda uses a block girdle on the B18C1 and B18C5...and Im sure its not on there just for appearance...it definately is a good thinsg on motors with less then perfect R/S ratio.
