WHen I shift in vtec, grey smoke comes out of my taile pipe...

Default WHen I shift in vtec, grey smoke comes out of my taile pipe...

Is that normal??? I am being told it may be shot piston rings....someone help me here quiiiick oh yea, and i do not have turbo...so its not from boosting...so i need quick help

VTEC burns oil plain and simple. You should see the "VTEC smoke" from a stock S2000 it looks really bad! But, it's normal.

ahhh thank you lord then, i thought i fried my rings or something which woulda really put a halt on my turbo project! thanks man

more than likely FUEL smoke....maybe a slight mixture...but fuel is grayish/blackish smoke and it's because right before vtec hits, the ecu is supposed to pour on the gas......keeps it from running anywhere close to lean.....so it's completely normal like he said.....if not, then it would run really lean at the crossover point and things wouldn't be good

All VTEC motors have been know to do this, it is the high reving nature of the engines that cause this. it is normal to burn at least a quart of oil in between oil changes. It also states this in the owners manual.
