Default carb

I have 1989 Accord with a 2.0L and an carb. I would like to know if there is a way to adjust the carb. I know it is running lean and in fact I had to have the head done, because of this. I can not find any way to change the air and fule. Is there a jet to turn in or out on the carb or what. If know have tune it please let me know. Oh I looked at every vac. hose there is and nothing is missing or leaking.

I've never done a Honda carb, but in general, there's a small screw to adjust the idle mixture. But that doesn't control mixture at any kind of load above idle.

You may have some dirt or deposits partially blocking one of the jets. There are small orifices which control the gas flow. How about the float bowl? The float controls the level of gasoline in that little tank. If the level is too low, it'll certainly make it lean. That's the only real adjustment other than cleaning.

It always used to be a routine maintenance item to take apart the carb & clean everything. You ought to get a shop manual that shows how to dismantle it & replace the gaskets & seals.

you will need to remove the carb and tilt it backwards so you can remove the idle controler bracket and screws then you will need to remove the mixture adjusting screw hole cap then install the bracket again then reinstall the carb and air cleaner and start the car let it warm up till the cooling fans come on then adjust the screw 1/4 of a turn at a time

this is what the factory manual says to do so good luck .....

Is that the idle mixture screw? If so, it will have only a small affect on mixture whenever the engine's running under load.

Carl - how long has it been since the carb was overhauled? Idle mixture adjustment is a good thing to do, but properly cleaning everything else is important too.
