Default Opinion Poll: Bottom end

Right now I am in the process of building up the head of my 96 b18c1. I am only doing the head because I don't have enough money to pull the engine and pop in pistons.

My question to you guys is, when i do build the bottom end should I just use .25 o/s OEM pistons, or go with a bigger bore. Is it worth it going from a 1.8 to a 1.9/2.0? I figure as long as the engine is out of the car and it's going to a machine shop to be honed/bored anyway, why not go for it.

Basically, when it comes time to build the bottom end, should I go bigge then 1.8 or keep it at 1.8?

Also, if i get a p&p job done to the head, would I have to re-do anything to it since the engine will have a bigger bore?

Go 2.0 or go home.

I`m just the type of person that likes to do everything while the motor is out of the car.

Would I need to buy custom high compression pistons w/ the 2.0 setup, or are there any OEM pistons I could use to bump the compression to 11.5 or higher?

ok u can not just bore out and think it increases a liter of displacement for you, stock pistons that are oversized were designed for people who needed to rebuild the block and the clynder walls required some boring out due to the last set of pistons damaging them.

oem O/S .25 pistons is .25 of a mm, therefore increasing your stock bore to 81.25mm, to achieve a 1.9L in your car you need 83mm bore, 2.0L u need a 84.5mm bore, but on your gsr block i would not bore out past 82mm, pereferablly 81.5 to be safe. Becuase you have aluminem sleeves in there and when u bore out they get too thin and will easily crack. so if you want a 1.9L, 2.0L gsr block you need to resleeve it with iron sleeves(RS machines,AEBS, golden eagle, darton) which are stronger and a thinner clynder wall isn't a problem. honda does not make OEM pistons 84.5mm or 83mm so that is why you will need to go with forged pistons.

b20z pistons are 84mm but ur going to have such a low compression with them u mite as well stick with 1.8 high compression build, unless u just want more torque
