Well my badass PPI PCX-4125 amp was stolen last night and I need to get a replacement. I was just going to buy the same one again but I wanted some input from anyone who wanted to give suggestions.
The old ratings:
125 x 4 watts
Damping >500
S/N ratio >115
Freq response 4.5-100k
25" long!!!
about $1200 range
Current setup:
Alpine CDA 7998
Boston Pro 6.5 front and rear + ambient tweeter system
JL 500/1 (for sub)
Eclipse All 12" (sealed box)
I want to stay near the $1200 range so I was thinking about zapco or phoenix gold, anyone ever used zapco or phoenix gold? I was also thinking of the JL 300/4 amp but it seems low in power (75x4) and I am not sure JL is in the same SQ range. I am also open to other suggestions and in case this question comes up...yes I do want sound quality and that is my main focus but I also want a decent amount of power!!!

I would suggest the arc, but you want to spend too much money
Where did you find room in a teg for a 2 foot long amp, and subs?

The 2 foot long amp is placed on the back seats (I bolted them together). I made a .5 cubic foot box for my 12" sub and hid the other amp, cd changer, and wiring in the spare tire well.

Mark...I will be seing the claims adjuster on Wed so we will see what they have to say. Also when your incident happened I pulled together all my receipts and showed my insurance agent my car so that he could note my modifications. At that time I asked if any additional insurance would be required to cover the mods and he assured me that everything would be covered under my comprehensive insurance. Thanks for your concern
Hey atf kuk, is that amp he had the same as that big *** ppi in the display at the shop? I think that one is 2 or 3 feet long.

How much for the PPI PCX-4125?
I looked at the ARC 4150 but the specs "on paper" show less performance then the PPI.

If I may make a suggestion....
The jl300/4 is a perfect mactch for the 500/1
the real output is almost 100x4 @ 4 ohms.
Plus I personally sat in a World Champion Eclipse
for an extend demo....sound was so good I nearly
spooged myself...the detail was intense. If you want
more power..do the 450/4...150x2 & 75x2.
just a lil insight.

I have never heard a car stereo with more power to the fronts then the rears. I wonder how it would sound. I am also running time correction so I don't know how that would sound.

Yeah I was without rear speakers in my old Civic but I am not going to compeat with this car. Also I prefered the fuller sound of fronts and rears. Urg...I wonder if Tweeter will let me buy the amp, use it and return it if I don't like it? I hope so!

I will do that but I also get Friends and Family discount at tweeter and I don't know how my friend would react to me returning something on the discount. I will find out. So far I am between 4 amps: Zappco, JL, Mclintosh, Same PPI. The ARC just does not seem to keep up on paper. I need to find a dealer so I can take a look at them.
I am a member of the Tweeter family ( Region 8)
If you get the F&F hookup why bother with returning the amp?
( anyway the policy is 7 day refund/defective exchange if not installed
by a Tweeter Location. 30 day nor rules apply if installed.
As for the power mismatch....its a staggard or rear fill thing. actually
sounds great.
