no need to mess with exhaust if you dont want to.. just get 2.5" cat - smsp makes them, and good to go.

you will not hear the header or your stock exhaust...
all you will hear is the AEM and nothing else

i have toda header with smsp cat and stock exhaust; my intake is stock with resonator removed (sort've like a comptech ice box). you still hear the intake end of things much more than the exhaust although there is definite change in exhaust note with vtec. the whole deal sounds like a stock car.

i think your car will sound much the same as it does now; maybe a little louder upon vtec. anyway, screw the sound because the horsepower increase is what you're after and toda definitely owns!

stock exhaust shouldn't be a restriction for just intake/header.. lets say 175whp.. if you decide to push for 200whp, then its a good idea to get larger diameter exhaust.

you will make more power with the toda header versus stock. you will likely make even more power adding an improved exhaust, but you yourself said you wanted to keep the stock exhaust.

I was shocked when I first learned that - Toda was one of the last manufacturers from which I expected to see rice (even if it is "race-rice").

I'm not hating... they make good power. I just that was an interesting fact. So much for function over form

The springs are visible on the two sets of "slip-joints". If they were functional, they would be holding the header together and would allow for disassembly of the header. However, apparently the joints are welded, so the springs are purely cosmetic (in other words, "race-rice).

Check this link out to compare dynos of different types and brands of headers on an ITR.
