Default Painting my rims, couple questions ?

recently i just finished stripping the paint off my rims and adding primer. What i noticed with the primer is the flaky appearance it gives. Is it because of the primer or something else? after i finished primering the rest of the rim i decided to add paint. The paint doesnt stick too well to the surface and it seems like the primer gave the surface a very rough/flaky appearance. Should i continue?

You may want to try using Bulldog instead of primer.

Its an adhesion promoter that is available at your local auto parts store.

did you " key " the rims before painting on the primer? i.e did you sand the surface gently to give the primer something to hang onto? do that. then wipe down with some thinners..
and paint with primer..

yeah i scuffed them up with some sandpaper. I have no idea why the primer is so flaky and rough though.
