Default engine swap in EK question.

Hey guys, in the next few months i will be swapping a gsr or sir motor into my 2000 civic sedan. Can you guys make recommendations? im thinking gsr since it is a 4door...ive considered h22 but am leaning more towards the gsr for the drivability/realability factor since ive heard a lot of hings about this swap.

Also, would i want to convert to obd1 or stay with obd2? I hear that obd is a lot less hassle and is more friendly with bolt ons.

All info is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks all.

You'll probably be disappointed with the b16 and it's lack of torque. I'd stick with the 1.8 motor.

OBD 1 would also be a good choice. No secondary O2 and a few other things that might make the swap easier.

is it a big task switching it from obd2 to obd1?

Reliability is one of the big factors here as this is my daily driver and am dependent on it.

No, OBD 2 to OBD 1 is extremely easy.

It consists of buying a harness adapter and a chipped OBD 1 ecu. Plug them into your wiring harness and you're good to go. Takes less than 5 minutes.. and everything will be perfectly reliable.

You can buy any GSR motor from 96 to 01. If you use a Civic Si(SiR) wiring harness, you will make the swap 100x easier.

If you buy anything from pre-96, you're gonna run into problems when it comes to the distributor and injectors..

I agree. IMO its not worth $3000.00 just for another cam. You'll be happy with the 1.8.
