Illinois peeps...question on engine swap and emissions
Ok, so I'm interested in buying an EK in the next couple of years (gotta save, have my DA for now ). So when I do I am going to swap the d16 for either b16 or b18. So here's my question to the Illinois peeps. The emissions people stopped "dynoing" obd2 vehicles since it's pointless. The computer will throwout the code, no more testing. So if I swap out the d16 (obviously 96-00 obd2) do I have to swap for an obd2 b-series also? They'll have the vehicle registered as obd2, but then when they go to plug the computer, they'll find out I have an obd1, and I might risk getting fined.
I don't know how this will work, so I am asking some people that might have already gone through this.

They plug into the OBD2 port here. It won't connect if you are OBDI in an OBDII car and you automatically fail. Unless you want to change back to OBDII for testing, don't bother.

damn, that's pretty serious. I guess I'm gonna bother, but only w/ an obd2. Now I just have to be assured what I'm buying is '96+
Thanks for your help.
