I have a 88 crx si my front end vibrates around 60 mph, i know its the rack because i looked under my car yesterday, and i can see the seals on the rack are about to be shot. My ? is how hard is it to replace a 88 crx si steering rack in a car with a swap already? And how much do steering racks run for? Thanks in advance.

 

get that fixed ASAP!

i was driving my car and felt vibration and it got stronger real fast!

soon the steering rack disconeected from the hub and the axle snapped in half. the passenger wheel turned 90 degrees and that side of the car was leaning on the steering rack....not fun

 

its kinda of a pain to do with the motor in but if you have some good jack stands that will give you some room to work then it shouldnt be that difficult.

 

Yeah have a friend that works at a shop with a lift.I hear its hard to put a steering rack in with a swap because there is not room to work with.Is this true? And how much does a steering rack cost? Thanks.

 

Check it is not just the outer tie rod ends or the inner rod ends. A leaking rack can last a long time

 

I think it was looking at the outer tie rode driver side. The guts inside the bushing seemed to be leaking.
