Default 3 Cylinder '90 RS ???

Hi, I'm new to the Honda / Acura world. I've been a european car guy forever.
I'm hitting the Honda and Acura forums as I just purchased a 90 Integra RS with 145K and a dead cylinder - previous owner says cylinders 1-2-3 have good compression but 4 has only 20 psi.
I'm hoping that its a top end thing......I think
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
What kinda' special tools might I need for the timing belt, valves - special head bolt socket???
Is there any good manuals available and where can I get them?
Is this engine (B18A1 - I guess)widely available - is it used in other Honda models?
Thanks in advance fior your comments.
It's a cool car - if my daughter don't like it (doubtful), I'll gladly drive it over my trusty ol' Rocco

well it sound like the cylinder sleeve or piston needs to be replaced
so best bet is to get a newer engine wich run under $500 for
a b18b1 or a b18a1
and welcome to one of the fastest board around

will be glad to help

under 500? - talk to me
The closest Acura dealer is about 125 miles away - the closest Honda dealer is 50 miles away......so parts aren't readily available here........heck the closest Walmart is 30 miles away
My brother has a few connections near Binghamton, NY but that's all I know.

Are these engines used in other Honda models?

You can get one for $500 just by checking the classified section of this board.

You could probably find just the block + pistons for much less. Check local engine importers for a japanese short block.

The B18a/B18b were only used on the integra, through 2000. Honda bored out the b18 to 2 liters for the Honda Crv, and this engine will bolt right in, as it's the same on the outside.

You can get a used engine real cheap for that car, and they are not to in demand, since most people want the 170hp B18C engine that came in the GS-r.

Anyways good luck replacing the engine. I've got a 92 LS with 200k on it and I love it.

So, you can interchange the B18 series without jumping through a bunch of hoops - computer / chip mods, electrical, etc????????????
Thanks for the comments/help!

blockwise easy swap
but when you swap the head thats when you have think about the engine management from

obd0 90-91
obd1 92-95
obd2 96-00
most of the time is just plug and play

and yeah dont blink cause you will miss some info here

I'm into Plug and Play - not interested in hacking the management stuff
If it's relatively straight forward then OK but..........

I've been surfing for an hour for these alleged $500 engines - ain't seen nothin' yet.
Thanks

it's probably because you're looking at more than the engine. probably a ls engine with tranny and/or ecu which runs for about 1,000.

look around some more, you can even post up a wtb topic (want to buy)

Leak-down test indicates exhaust valve leaking
An intriguing thing though is the #4 spark plug was SOAKED with oil and the oil level is low - no smoke when running though -maybe a bad guide and valve?????
Compression cold - #1,2,3 - 200 # 4 - 20
So, I want to think that the bottom end is in pretty good shape.
I wonder what I might be getting into with freshening the head???????
Can you get reman heads somewhere?
