ITR Tranny Review
After delaying this modification for quite some time, i finally came around to installing my itr tranny this weekend. Installation was pretty basic, took about 4-5 hours to take it off and put the new one on.
Gearing:
2nd gear is alot more fun now. Instead of lagging like crazy with my gsr tranny, the 2nd gear shoots me high up on my upshift to 2nd gear from 1st. I used to land a hair above 6000 rpm shifting at 8500 rpm. Now with the ITR tranny, i land right below 7000 rpm while shifting at 8500 rpm. It revs much quicker and the car feels like it accelerates faster. Also, now when i chirp, i believe i'm chirping with both tires cause the car feels like it still has a sense of direction when chirping.
LSD:
All cars should be equipped with a lsd. I can't emphasize how much better the car feels in corners. The car just feels more planted on to the ground and the way you point the steering wheel, it just goes. Also, it seems that there is less resistance on the steering wheel when cornering. The LSD really brings out the bad in my stock michelin tires. When taking a hard corner, i lose traction in both wheels and i can feel my car slide out of the turn. The tires will hook up somehow and it will pull the car back into the turn with ease. It really feels like a totally different car now.
This is the mod that my car has been waiting for. Probably should have put an itr tranny on my car as the first mod, thats how much i like it. This tranny puts a smile to my face similar to the one when i first got my car
.
Got the tranny from Access Motors in Signal hill, CA. They get a
from me.
What are you guys doing reading this? Go get lsd, now!

I remember when I had a Type R tranny in my 94 GSR..
- ITR tranny/clutch/flywheel - OMG such a difference between the GSR.. 2 bad that car was stolen and stripped (fukn thieves!)
Definetely recommend the ITR tranny to anybody looking to go all-motor - Debating between FI or all-motor myself or I'd have another one of those badboys installed already!
Enjoy

If i could do it over again, FI for me.
All motor is cool though, just not very cost effective. I sometimes worry about my car when i push it hard though. If you're type of person, turbo might not be for you. Good luck with whatever you choose. BTW, i like your new car alot better.

Yeah its the usdm itr tranny. I am extremely with it happy and couldn't ask for more. I'm sure after a few months of driving it, i will get used to it and hope for an ATS FD.

If I were to get a JDM itr tranny does it come with the fd? You think it's more cost effective this way? Or is ATS fd better.

Yea this car is a lot newer/nicer but I definetely do miss the speed and the ITR tranny of my older car.. Gotta give props to Honda.. when I can say a 94 GSR with 158k miles on it ran harder than my 99 68k mile motor, LOL!!
Must a been a freak...
Well I'm glad you went the ITR tranny route - I remember you asking me some questions when I got mine installed.. I been thinking about it again but the gear ratios alone make me want even an SI tranny... we'll see.. boost or motor.. hard choice!

Just hurry up. ITR trannies are more hard to come by these days.
