Auto Transmission To Manual On 1997 Base
I was wondering how hard it is to swap the auto tranny to a manual? I hear its expensive and a lot of work. Will someone enlighten me on how much $ we are talking and what parts i would need?
Thanks

if you want a manual go sell your car and buy a manual, the money and labor involved in the swap is not worth the work that is unless your extremely attached to this specific chasis and this is something your keeping for life. else its not worth it. do a search on the subject you'll find the general consensus

Not to mention the loss in value your car will experience if you try to sell it to the general public.

the labor itself is not hard but finding the right part can get expensive.the whole enchilada could cost you around $500. on labor + around $200-$2000 for the tranny + also the parts that could cost you around $1000 or you could go to ebay and buy the whole engine with tranny and ecu for like $2000. sell the h22 and buy the other parts.also you will want to pick up a helms manual it will show you the part you need.good luck
im going a conversion as we speak for a friend at work. its a pain in the *** and labor intensive, but if yous hop around for alot of the parts you can find some decent prices. the only things we ended up getting from the dealer for my buddies car were the half shaft cause ($175 my cost if i remember correctly) we couldnt find it anywhere, and clutch lines (which were pretty cheap). other than that you need the shifter assembly, pedal assembly, axles, clutch master and slave cylender, shift linkage, tranny, tranny mount, flywheel and clutch. i believe thats everything but i may be forgeting some stuff. oh and a new guage cluster for a 5spd car is optional if you anna get rid of the little auto symbols (p,r,d ect...). its not the easiest thing in the world to do, but its possible. just shop around.
