wat do you guys think of the spoon lip setup? just curious, thinkin' about it for the future

 

They are nice

This post sounds like an informercial for spoonlips.

 

from what i hear the benen version has been dramaticly improved in strenght over the spoon version, but either one is lok dawg fresh

Which one would you rather have Rodrez? In terms of quality and lastability(is that even a word?)?

 

Regardless, if you pull in too close to a curb, or hit any wildlife crossing the road, then you can kiss your 300+ lip goodbye.

After four days of having it, a skunk decided that it was perfectly alright to walk in front of a moving car. Needless to say, it ripped down the middle, and cracked in two places on the left side. I'm taking it to a bodyshop, and they can junk it together and paint it, making it look all fresh again.

 

I hit a curb with my carbon fiber lip and all it did was flex...

That's true, the Benen lip was oustanding, with great quality and strength, but availability is what kept me from getting one a few years ago when they first came out. After getting the "run around" for about 7 months, I ended up with a refund .

Well I picked up the Spoon one almost brand new for a ridiculously low price, so I can't complain, but the VIS lip is thicker and stronger, and will take more abuse. I don't really have a problem with the lip being, but my cars not on the ground.

 

I like mine.

well, if you like having a huge lip that doesnt match the car.. i guess its cool.. and if you like having to change your whole driving style to make sure you dont break a waste of money lip, then go for it..

but i say spend that money wisely and put an actual upgrade on the car.. maybe some sway bars or a nice exhaust system... or even go get a VAFC + Dyno tuning.. but dont buy the vafc if ur not gonna get it tuned.. thats just as funny as having a spoon lip on a non-racecar..

 

I can't seem to find any shop that carries the VIS lip......Where can I find it? Thanks....

Damn, you must really hate carbon fiber. Every post i see about carbon fiber hoods or lips...there u are with "they dont match".

I dont really like carbon fiber hoods either but i do like the lips.

 

I have to disagree on the VIS lip being stronger than the spoon lip. I had a Spoon lip and my good friend has a VIS lip. The VIS cracked very easily and is not have as strong as the Spoon. I hit like 5 or more animals with no damage and a dumbass friend drove my car into a curb and the bumper clip on the side broke before the lip did. Spoon lips rock.

MTK is the local Carbon Fiber ****. I think he would rather have all cars color-matched then see world peace.

It is a bitch having a lip that expensive so damn close to the road. It makes you think before going over some bumps.

pretty much.. i think its because i dont see how this became a cosmetic thing.. i always thought the key to having a clean car was to do just that.. have a clean car, right? .. and in my personal opinion of cleanliness (again, its just an opinion on the internet), mismatching body panels and stuff like that just takes away from cleanliness.. its just that HT quickly takes the offensive on anything that comes close to "insulting" their super street magazine JDM obsession..

I know, Im kidding. Everyone has their own personal opinion. I like my lip, but am not really a fan of CF hoods, hatches, etc. I think if done in moderation it can look good.

You hit 5 animals with your Spoon lip, and had no problems with cracking? That's amazing. Especially since you can see through the Spoon lip it's so thin. The VIS is a thicker piece, has more durability.

 

get the spoon, u pay 4 what u get good quality
