Default EP3 backfire?

I installed a short ram intake the other day. Today when the car was just about warm, it backfired in between gears. (I think i was shifting into 3rd). I did a search and found this. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=506142 . Sounds like the same problem I have but it was never solved in this persons thread. Anyone know if this will hurt the car? It was just a small pop.

basically, something has caused the explosion to happen when it shouldn't. bad timing or something else wrong in the ignition system... my ep3 hasn't exhibited this probelm... good luck!

more info:
normally a backfire is caused when an explosion (a normally occuring phenomenon in combustion engines) happens when a valve is open.

if the intake valve is open - then you hear the explosion throught the intake.
if the exhaust valve is open - then you hear it through the exhaust.

If i had to guess, i'd say it was on the intake side. So why would an intake valve be open during combustion? Maybe the timing is advanced when the engine is cold?
