NATIONAL street car class rules(nhra, nopi, idrc, battle)
i created a 1/4 mile registry of the fwd 4cyl turbo street cars after having so much debate lately on honda-tech about which cars had done what. it seemed like an easy job. we all pretty much know whos done what, it was just a matter of collecting all the info onto one list. once the turbo class had been fairly established (without alot of pissing and whining, mind you) i decided to help out the allmotor guys. alot of people, especially new comers, here on honda tech want to know what the competitions like around the usa. not street racing as much as national events. with nhra starting sport fwd, along with nopi, battle, and idrc street classes, it seemed like a good thing to start(the registry). however, the allmotor guys are a whole different breed. the guys from california specifically. i have never seen so much ego, whining, bitching, etc......ever before here on honda tech. granted this is just the internet, but honda tech has a lot of internationally known people on here and is what i consider to be "the" web site when it comes to hondas. yes, there are a few others that provide alot of insight, bit honda tech stands out as the largest, bullshit free(for the most part) site of them all.
i am not politically motivated when it has come to this list. i have shown no favorites.......i am just laying out the cars in the order that they have performed under the street class rules. so, for everyones understanding, these are the 2003 NATIONAL street car rules:
NHRA - pro fwd, allmotor can run, but its mainly a turbo class. nhra has yet to address the lack of an allmotor fwd street class, why??? who knows........ the rule book is in acrobat so you can download it here: http://www.nhrasportcompact.co...s.zip
it basically tells you that ALL interior is mandatory, except the rear seats. all carpet, headliner, door panels, dash, 2 front seats etc....are mandatory. you must have full exhaust, NO lexan at all anywhere on the car, and NO fuel cell.
IDRC - very similar to nhra pro fwd. basically for turbo cars. allmotor may enter but conform to the same rules as the turbo cars. again, same as nhra, all idrc pro am fwd cars must retain all factory glass, no fuel cells, must have full interior minus the back seats and must include headliner, dash, door panels, full carpet, etc....... also in acrobat, download rules here: http://www.importdrag.com/rules/2003%20Rules.pdf
BATTLE OF THE IMPORTS - battle has two seperate classes for the 4cylinder street cars. one is for allmotor only, the other for turbo/power adders. the rules aside from the motors/power adders are the same. you must retain all factory type headliners, dash, seats, door panels, etc... from the rear of the fron seat forward. that includes carpet. carpet removal is for the back of the car only. no fuel cells allowed. NO lexan is allowed anywhere on the car. download rules here: http://www.battleoftheimports....shtml
NOPI - nopi, along with battle has 2 seperate classes for the allmotor street cars and the power adder cars. comp 4 is all motor and turbo 4 is turbo(obviously). no reason to say it all again, but you must have everything i listed for the other sanctions. download here: http://www.nopi.com/rulebook/NDRARB.pdf

Not to stir the pot any, but Paul Brandner, the NDRA tech director, allowed fuel cells this year in T4. He changed this rule after the rules were printed and released, but it is a fact. So, under the current requrements of the list, if you have a cell, you should be allowed on the list.

thanks for the info zex, but the rules i have layed out are a conglomerate of 4 major sanctioning bodies. i am still leaving out fuel cells because they are not legal in 3 of the 4. just as i have allowed cars to run no exhaust even though 1 makes you have full exhaust and another makes you have partial. 99.9% of all cars don't have fuel cells, jason ran 9.80's with stock fuel cell and stock lines so when people start running mid 9's and might be able to put up an arguement as to why they need cells, then i'll think about it.

I feel your pain bruh. I have built a car that on a good day will have a hard time qualifying all motor(for now). I thought when all these "pro-am) classes where coming out that this would be a good chance to get some heads up experience. Nope. As soon as those rules dropped.....no lexan or fuel cell. Hell I have both along witha front clip. I don't want to bracket race, but I guess I will have no choice. There is nothing for the middle of the road "all motor" guy. We need to let the sanctioning bodies know how we feel.
So if you are from NOPI, IDRC, IDRA, or NHRA please consider changing the rules so that a 12-13 sec all motor car can run heads up. It will be just a matter of time b4 we cross the 11 sec barrier and qualify consistantly.
