Default engine wont hold idle

okay here is the problem. the engine starts, but it wont hold the idle. if i remove the #1 spark plug out, then the car will hold idle. i am guessing there is something wrong with the head at the #1 cylinder but i dont know much to figure out what is wrong. any help would be appreciated.
TIA

THis might sound stupid but make sure the plug wires are on the right cylinders. I had this happen on my Accord, I looked at the wrong picture in my manual and had two wires on the wrong cylinders. It would not idle, but when I pulled one wire off, it would idle. Strange.
