Default Can anyone answer the question? Is the HFP SI coming in '04?

Dealers act as if I'm speaking french when I ask about the HFP SI, they all instantly direct me to the HFP package already available for the EX coupe versions of Civic & Accord.

I plan on buying a car in the next few weeks and I'd hate to buy something else and see the HFP SI become available shortly thereafter. Any input is appreciated guys.

Thanks for your reply, I'm seriously looking at buying a 20th AE GTI, but if the HFP SI was available I prefer to go

Didn't you buy a 1.8T GTi a few months ago, or am I thinking of someone else?

Yeah that was me. I bought an '03 GTI 1.8T base model red, no roof, no leather, no monsoon, etc. but with 17's. I got a great deal on it and drove it for about 5 months and then sold it at a profit to a friend (basically what I owed the bank and a few extra bucks) for two reasons:

1. I knew the 20th AE was coming out and got a major case of buyers remorse on the red GTI I bought.

2. I needed a pickup truck for this coming winter to snowplow/pull people out of ditches for $ etc.

A pickup in the winter here in the northeast can make you some serious bucks during snowstorms. Plus I wanted to have something to tow the R with and a safe all around, get anywhere winter vehicle for my wife and kid.

Now I'm in the market again and I'm debating between the GTI 20 AE, MS Protege, or Honda EP3.

I see...

Anyhow, EP3 makes a great daily driver. A lot cheaper than the VW too. The Protege is nice, but I guess since I'm a Honda guy I went with the Honda. I am not dissapointed in my choice.

And come on--you always have the R in the garage

Yeah the base ep is still on my list, after all Honda is Honda. I spent some time over at http://www.msprotege.com and unfortunately the msp's reliability and drivetrain quality are questionable at best.

In their defense I will say that the few guys that have modded them are definetly running fast times. It seems mbc, turbo back ehxaust, and, fpr will make one of those things scoot. Theres more than one 13 second car on that board.

But horror stories of shitty mazda dealer service towards mazdaspeed owners and major warranty denial has made me pretty much rule the protege out, although I must say that with my P5 mazda has given me great service, but its not a performance car either. I've heard about cracking soft pipes (turbo ducting), oil leaks, ecu glitches (hesitations, poor mileage), faulty Kenwood head units (refurbs from kw) and sub woofer, etc.

The general concensus over there is that mazda has pretty much buried their head in the sand and seems to be ignoring these problems. Leaving many MSP owners out in the cold with big repair bills.
