broken timming belt on 87 civic
I know this is off topic, but I figured someone in here might know the answer. I broke the timming belt on my 1.5L carb. honda civic the other day. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this was an interferance free motor or if im going to have to pull the head because of bent valves. If I have to pull the head, I might just find a new motor and swap it in cause it might be cheaper then buying a new belt, getting valves and having a valve job done. Anyone know?
It has been awhile, but I believe it is an interference motor. I seem to recall pulling the head off of one for bent valves-after the t-belt broke on the freeway. Best thing to do is slap a belt on there and see what you've got.
Thats what im gonna do. Thats also where the belt let go...it actually didnt snap, it just broke teeth off. Gotta love all the vacum lines
Thanks fellas...
