Default Radiator question....

Does anybody run with only water in their radiator? If you completely filled your radiator with water..how long do you think it would last before it dried out and you would have to re-fill it.

the antifreeze is not just used to keep the coolant from freezing, it also keeps the internal water jackets from rusting and lubricates the water pump.

why would you even think of doing this?

its just a question... nobody said i was doing anything. I just heard that some people (don't know what cars they have) run with just water obviously cause it runs cooler, but wondered why.

Depends really on how much ya drive it an the heat your engine is producing. I wouldnt go for to long with out antifreeze. During the summer though i use a product called Water Wetter. It keeps temps down some. If your running to hot may wanna look into it.
