I READ ALOT OF THE POSTS ON FREAKY IDLES, AND TOMORROW AFTER WORK , I PLAN TO GO STEP BY STEP AND FIGURE OUT THIS FREAKIN THING, HERES MY ?, I HAVE A 91 A6 SWAP IN MY HATCH, BUT I HAVE AN EXTRA Z6 MANI SITTING ON MY PORCH, IF I FIND OUT THAT IT IS THE IACV, CAN I JUST USE MY Z6 CV, OR NO?
ANY HELP WILL BE GREAT
ANY HELP WILL BE GREAT
The Z6 IACV will not fit onto the D16A6 manifold.
A bouncy idle isn't very often due to the EACV (OBD-1+ is called an IACV), try adjusting the throttle screw and resetting the ECU.
BTW: TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCK!!!! IT'S FREAKING ANNOYING!

JUST SWAP THE WHOLE MANIFOLD
BTW YOU CAN CHECK TO SEE IF IT IS THE IACV BY DISCONNECTING THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. IF THE IDLE STABILIZES THEN YOU KNOW THAT'S THE PROBLEM.
and yes all caps are very irratating

sorry bout all the caps, didnt' think it was a big deal, any ways on to a serieous note, i went out and screwed with the intake and tb, i disconnected the iacv or whatever you want to call it, since ive been told there isnt anything until 92, but i disconected it, and messed with the idle screw and i have my idle where i want it, but it goes back up when i plug the iacv back in, sooooo....... since the valve wasn't working in the first place would it hurt anything to keep it disconnected???? if so let me know cuz it idles fine now, if not how hard is it to install one? just bolt it on?you say reset the ecu would this consist of me pluging the iacv back in and doing what?
please help me im so close
thanks in advance

when my iacv was acting up I tired to run the motor with it disconnected and that did not work at all. You can try cleaning it out first and see if it makes a difference. Just disconnect the 2 coolant hoses, the electrical connection and then take out the 2 bolts. Spray it with some carb cleaner, let dry, and replace. If your problem still persists you have to change the IACV.
right now i have no problems..... but if my ecu touches gnd. my IACV goes crazy and idle jumps from 1200-1500.. up and down...
i tried 3 of them and they all tdo that..... but clean them up.. check to make sure its within specs... and just try my idea

With the EACV plug disconnected, you should set your idle speed (by the screw) to about 500 rpms. After you re-insert the harness plug to the EACV, the idle speed should bump up to about 750 rpms.
