what is the maximum the stock oil pressure should be at the stock sending unit location?

I have a freshly built motor and with new oil, cold start, the oil pressure was up as high as 60psi! it came down to about 20psi or so after it warmed up.

is that normal?

manual says minimum of 10psi at idle.

 

Sounds normal. I get a little higher than that but I have my sending unit in a different location.

 

manual says it should be above 9 psi at idle and above 50 psi at 3,000 RPM.

 

I know. but i was wondering about max pressures

 

it can easily be 60 or higher when the oil is cold. Just don't rev it up high enough to get it above 80 psi or so when its cold.

 

My oil pressure is from 75-85psi while lapping.
