Simple green, I don't clean my headers cause there just gonna get dirty right after I start my engine. Old shot of my engine, it has a stainless steal header on it now.

After

if its really dirty, I use car soap and water on a rag then rinse it off w/ a wet rag. otherwise i just use a wet rag

Pressure washer! NOT FULL BLAST! I do not clean the header at all, It is wrapped with DEI header wrap and oversprayed with high temp silicon spray paint. I think my engine bay looks pretty good.

I used Krud Kutter and a buchet of water. You can get it at Lowes. Stuff is better than simple green. Made my white engine room look white again.

actually "headers" would be correct because he is pluralizing it... As in more than on Header... Ie, I have a header, you have a header, we have Headers...

I just use a normal hose, I cover the things off I don't want to get wet. Then I clean it and start it right up after wards, this way the spots I can not dry or can't reach to dry, the engines heat will dry them for me.

i use Simple Green mostly... if i'm really trying to clean it up, i'll bust out the hose and have my way with it. an old tooth brush helps a lot too.

for the header, it's kinda hard to clean it up if it's stainless. NeverDull works a little bit and if you're trying to get the blue/purplish color away i heard you're supposed to use "Blue Away"... i guess they have it at places that sell Harley's.

Actually, I think the word header is short for head pipes. We have 4 head pipes, thus we have a set of headers.

Anyway, They make this stuff called engin gunk, and it works great. Just remember to cover your electronics.

Instead of risking a wet dist. cap (under it), just keep your car idling while you wash it off, just be careful what you spray/wash.
I learned this the hard way and sputtered all the way home once... <--but learned

Then why are pants called a pair when there are only one, and used in the plural form? It can be said about headers or header. I have heard it both ways and seen it in books and magazines both ways.
