pinting caliper advice...
so i am about to put on my gold gram light 57pro's
and my calipers are an eyesore with their brown, rusty color =/
So I am about to paint them a dark red, although I am a bit unsure. I dont want them to look too flashy or ricey, but I think they will look cool behind the wheels as they are spinning, as long as it is pretty low key. I was also thinking of going with a dark grey or maybe a gold, do you think that would look bad?
also...I bought the red color in engine enamel paint. There was caliper paint available but they only had it in blue and yellow. The engine enamel is good to 500F, while the caliper is good to 900 degrees. do you think this will be a problem? Should i return the stuff and wait to find some real caliper paint? or is it nothing to worry about?
thx =]

well, i just got done painting my calipers red
i bought the paint from pep boys!
when i first painted the calipers under the sun, i started to get pissed at the color. They were a bright orangish red, and they looked really bling bling.
3 coats later, they look the same color, but better. I put them on the car and...they seem to match my milano red nicely. They look hot!
lol sorry im a ricer, I will take pics when i get my rims on, you cant even see it behind my current blinging 15" rims =/
edit: damn now i wish i had tried anodizing!!!! those look hot! although i would have gone with red...
dont worry boys..pics soon for all the "jdm steelie" kids i dissed.
double edit: should i, or shouldnt i....get a wings west big mouth kit?
should i let the ricer in me truly unleash itself?!

I like the blue, but ended up painting mine red. I think some of you are using the word "rice" when you really mean Ghetto. Most guys do it ghetto-style by spraying the calipers while mounted on the rotors.
I dismantled the calipers and painted each part separately. The end result was impressive.
The car overall... The color you chose might depend also on the color of your car. If all else, just give your calipers a good cleaning to remove all the brake dust and call it a day. Then you can return the paint you bought and have more money in the pocket. My thing is do it right, or don't do it at all mate. Cheers
