Default Alpine MP3 Head Unit - Illumination

Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. While installing my Alpine MP3 Head Unit (The exact model I can't remember, RB something) the harness on the alpine end presented me with a dimmer wire. Now, this stated that it connected to the orange illumination wire (Orange from the conversion harness), is this correct ? The orange wire gets 12 volts down it when the lights are turned on, has anyone ever wired one of these in ?

Any help would be much appreciated !

damn noobs
heh juss playin!
that dimmer wire hooks up to your lights (parking) so that when turn on your lights, power tells that switch to dim the lights on the head unit so that its not super bright when your trying to keep your eyes on the road. im pretty sure its orange out of the head unit...? if your using a harness kit then just follow the wire through the plugs....(do i make sense?)

I figured that was it's purpose, when it gets a 12v signal it dim's the lights, I was just unsure, didn't wanna damage the bugger ! My conversion lead gives me an orange wire with illumination written on it, the honda leads tight at the back so I haven't had chance to see the colour of that one, I'm sure that's it, i get 12v across it when I turn the side lights (parking lights) on.

This is what I did, and it works perfectly. Use the process of elimination. You which ones are your speaker leads, constant power, etc. After you knock all of these off the illumination will be the only one left.
