Default HX To EX Tranny swap

First off I have used the search function but found nothing for HX to EX swap

I currently have an HX tranny but its dead so I am swapping to an EX. Is everything the same between the two like axles, clutch, ect. I know how HX's differ in a lot of areas compared to other civics. So I was just making sure bout the tranny, the shop I took it too specializes in hondas but have not had much experiences with HXs.

Thanks again guys

I did the same swap. I put a 95 Si tranny into my 97 HX. Everything swaps over perfect. I didn't have any trouble at all.

Enjoy, it's a big change and make the car feel a lot better!

-Paul

p.s. let me know if you have anymore questions

Same exact thing...except for the Ex's wayyy better gear ratios.

I swapped an Ex tranny to my old hx, worked great!

so u noticed a nice little change, im also upgrading the clutch as well. I plan to bottle feed it a little 50 shot for fun. Well at least till I get out of college and can save up for a turbo.

I have a 97 ex tranny in my vx. Big difference, but you lose gas mileage

I didn't even lose that much gas mileage, except that i ripped on my car more with the closer ratio tranny...that kinda hurt the gas mileage a bit.
but just cruising on the highway was alright and i got about the same gas mileage.

not really. y8 may have better gear ratios, but not that much better. probably a different FD as well, but again, minimal

The gearing, if not the same, is too close to notice a difference.
