Default Launching close to 400whp on street tires?

I know some guys are getting some good times with high HP and street tires these days. I was basically looking for any tips and/or tricks. I have no launch control device ie. 2-step etc. I'm broke and have zero funds for slicks this year after building the motor...

The car is an '01 ITR Turbo, roughly 400whp, running on stock 15" wheels and Falken Azenis 205-50-R15. I basically just got the new motor broken in and tried 1 or 2 soft launches on the street(back country road) and could not get traction in 1st or 2nd even at partial throttle.

Thanks for any info.
Mark

my only piece of advice is pat the gas. I launch at like 5k on my 195-55-15 kumho 711's and pulled a 12.7@122 spinning from launch thru the traps.

best advice is to get rid of the azenis. they dont hook period. get big bfg's and youll go 12's easy on 400whp.

Werd. I love the sticky BFGs. Also love how good those broken axles look in my junk bin. Its not the tires fault though, just me being an animal at the start line.

yeah if you run on those tires with that much power you will not hook until fourth gear guaranteed. Id say but a bigger tire on there and see how that works

just control your right foot.

you might even get better times turning down the boost a bit until you can afford some nice tires.

Agreed on the azenis. In my hatch, I have them on the street tires. They spin 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and most of 4th gear (stock GSR transmission).

Mark, I recommend looking at an LS transmission instead of your ITR. Swap the diff into it. Your final drive is making your tire spin worse if you plan to stick with the factory sized tire.

G-force drags are much better than the comp drags, and either of these is much better than the Nitto garbage in my opinion..

Thanks for all the info.
FWIW I made one pass with my current setup on Sunday, closer to 350whp though. I got horrible wheelhop and a horrible 2.3 60ft. time. I still managed a 12.821 @ 118MPH That is at nearly 6000 ft. in elevation at Bandimere Speedway in Colorado. The time and trap obviously indicate there is much more potential in the car.
Thanks
Mark
Congrats on your run on Sunday Bill, that was amazing.

Best thing for luanching on street tires is just getting the practice. Its not like slicks where you can just floor it and dump the clutch. 12.8 aint too bad on azenis get some bfg's and w/ that trap speed you should go low 12's if u can drive.

g-force ta's are better for fwd applications on the street, the comps are better for rwd, and are more of an all out slick(they have like 4 grooves)
