Default automatic bodys are diff then 5spd

ok heres the problem.. i have a 94 eg body.. originally automatic, recently converted to 5spd which was quiet easy... the only problem is.. i have a b16 and a gsr tranny in it... but the top tranny mount (which is a 95 gsr) does line up in the 5spd body but does not line up with the auto body... i looked at another 5 spd. 92-95 hatch and the frame mount itself it positioned differently then it is on mine.. i was wondering if anyone has had the problem im having cause ive broken 3 axles and split a tranny in half already .. driving with out the top side tranny mount (dont do that).. so if any one has any ideas or knows of a company that makes or can make a bracket or mount that will fit please let me know thanks.

you have to buy a auto to manual tranny bracket, or cut and re weld the original bracket about an inch over

search "auto to manual"

I believe Hasport makes a mount for that???? not sure...never had to deal with it

I had the same problem with my LS into EG all I did was extend the mount using some spacers and longer tranny bolts so that it sits parallel with the engine bay.

Just get the actual manual bracket. You can buy them new, but I got mine at a junkyard. I just drilled all the welds out to remove the bracket, did the ame on my car, bolted it to the tranny( to get the positioning right), marked it, took it apart, and welded it. Needs to be mig welded so you wont blow a hole in the frame rail. Lots cheaper than the Place Racing part.

I agree, you can buy the place racing mount at http://www.overboost.com, but the weld-on bracket can be ordered from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com for like $40-50. That way you can use the stock 5spd mount. By the way, that angled bracket is unique to EG automatics. The 94+ integra automatics have the same bracket as the 5spd chassis.

I'd drill and reweld the bracket. If you dont have a welder, it's just a few spot welds, and I'm sure a shop could do it cheap.

Thanks for those sites about that mount but you wouldn't happen to have a pic of it cause I would like to make sure it is the right one. TIA

Yes, I have the Place Racing bracket as well, I read about them breaking on certain people's cars, but I haven't really heard of too many people having issues with it.

I have pics of it on my car, but I can't upload them onto here.

But it's red and it looks pretty much like an elongated mount.

It's part #23 and it's only $25 new (cheaper than I thought). This is the best way to go if you can drill and spot-weld, and have a stock 5-spd mount that you can use. If not, the placeracing mount link is here. This is about as cheap as you will find it:
http://www.overboost.com/obs/product.asp?pid=21096

I wish there was a picture of the actual mount in there, I know I've seen one before...

Yes the place racing adapter is what you need but luck would have it that they are on national back order! Your best bet is to do what we did. Go buy a new mount from honda and cut your old one out. pull measurements from a 5 speed EG and re-weld the new mount in the proper place.

Thanks guys for all the info, I think we are just going to buy the mount bracket and drill out the tack welds and weld in the new one cause we already have the manual tranny mount itself and it seems that it would be more logical. thanks again peaCe

No, your're lucky. The bracket is exactly the same on a 00 DXauto, DX 5spd, and the Si(B16A2) according to the parts diagrams on hondaautomotiveparts.com, but I've never done the conversion on an EK. So I assume all you need is the OEM 5spd mount. Looks like a simple bolt-on, no cutting, welding, or custom mounts needed. Hope that helped.

And sorry for my newbness with only 200 posts, but I can answer a lot of swap tech questions. I'll be posting on H-T a lot more now since the the a**hole moderators and regulars over on hondaswap.com don't like it when someone knows more than they do...

Sorry about that.. just had to vent...
