Need help quickly with a tie rod problem.
I'm swapping my brakes with gsr's and the tie rod keeps giving me problems. It won't come off with beating the mess out the bolt to pop it up. The passenger side gave me problems too, but it eventually popped out and now the driver side is doing the same thing but the thread on the bolt is starting to get stripped out because of the beating that I'm doing. Nothing seems to work.
Is there an easier way of getting the tie rod off.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i had the same problem, the passenger side would come out but the drivers side wouldn't. I eventually had to take the knuckle off the car, put it on my driveway, and slam my sledgehammer into the knuckle. Tie rod came right out.

I wouldn't suggest beating on the actual bolt with the threads- you will mess up the threads I have done so and learned. If you must, then turn the nut upside down and rethread it onto the tie rod so that you won't damage the threads. I generally just hit the tie rod arm itself instead, after several wacks with a BFH it comes loose.

this might be too late... but there is a tool that u can use to safely remove the tie-rod end. u can loan it at autozone. it's called a "Tie Rod End Puller"
