also the value it dispalys revolves around 2.5... it goes from like 2.4 to 2.6. also when i take the fuse out it goes to 0. when i take the plug out of the cigarette lighter it goes to 0 too.

ive used this unit before with no problems... it seemed to work at first when i used it today then suddenly malfunction.

Which unit is it?

My DIY-WB 1.0 reads that until the heater circuit warms up (~45 seconds). It took a bit of kicking to get it to warm up, too, the early DIY-WB boards had heater circuit problems.

Reply with as many details as you can come up with. I'll be asleep by then as I am very drunk, and probably won't remember your problem in the morning, but that's OK.

it used to heat up pretty quickly... it is a diy wb.

ive used it before it would heat up after about 30 secs being plugged in and then 20 secs of idling. Now after driving for 5 mins it doesnt change at all. Does my DP placement seem ok?

ok it goes on and off. it will read 2.5-2.6 and NOT MOVE at all no matter what then sometimes it will work. Managed to get 3 runs in while it worked. was reading 1.8-1.9 @ 5000 and 1.6 @ 6000 took out 10% gonna go do some more runs.

Did you drive much without the sensor hooked up, yet still in the O2 bung? My FJO manual states that can damage the sensor if it is not heated while driving around...

im with J. Davis. check the source voltage first, with a voltmeter, make sure its getting at least 13.5 V. if thats good, then pull it out of the dp and hold on to it, and see if its getting hot. it should get pretty warm, and if you look into the cell chamber you should see a glowing orange filament. it sounds like its not getting warmed up, to me. when you get into the car and start the engine does the red LED instantly come on the DIY WB or does it take the normal amount of time (<1min) to come on?

ill look into these things. i have never run it without being hooked up. and i have always warmed it up. moving it down here it did get bumped around a little though. still it should be warmed up after a while of driving but its still not responsive.

yes LED should be on when you are driving. i have never seen mine go out, anyways. i reread your posts and noticed you use the cig lighter, thats not a very reliable source for power (tho is convenient, its where mine is also) sometimes i have to wiggle the plug in to make good connection to get the LED lit. good luck and hope its OK.

Good points.. I have a Pivot shift light that ran off the cig lighter, I would get somewhat unreliable performance from it so I soldered it in and its been great ever since.

ok...sounds like it still not working for you. im assuming you have the DIY-WB V1.0. well the LED on the WB is the important one. it signifies if the Oxygen sensor is heated to operating temperature. if its not on, then the voltage reading will be 2.5V. if this is the prob, it could be caused by several things: unstable connection at the cig socket, loose wire connections at the summitomo end or at the controller end, a damaged heater circuit or sensor...etc. electrical problems are hard to troubleshoot if the equipments not in front of ya. good luck with it n let us know how it goes

it works sometimes then stops working. i am going to take it apart and check all the connections. at this point im guessing its the sensor though.
