With a piece of cylindrical wood and a double sided wood/bolt type screw. Hard to explain really. I can take some pics for you tommarrow.

I'd go with a small cell phone look a like antenna. Workman (KS-3) and MFJ (MFJ-1728?) make them. It is only about 12" long with a small loading coil and will work better than something inside a trunk. Just make sure it covers the band you want to listen to(which for a scanner just a wide band antenna) For scanners and info try here: www.radioworld.ca
