Default some pics of my 89 civ from Mosport

I had a great time...what a awesome track!

Only my 2nd time there but I could pull a 1:47 with traffic so I can mostly go faster....as I was still getting the line down with turn 2 and 4. None of the turns there really scare me as they have a lot of room to correct for...except turn 1 which is stupid fast turn where you can find yourself pushed out very quickly to the curb then onto the grass then into the wall.

First time using a splitter too...and these things work great! The back end got loose with it on so I added some neg camber as I was running 0 camber in the rear with 900 rates. The sheet metal covering up the space between the splitter and bumper took more of a beating then I thought it would by debris(rubber mostly) so I have to make that more secure. Also picked up more km/hr on the backstraight too. I didn't think these areo parts would make such a diff but they work real nice.

Yes my car is pretty beat up...lots of zipties and rust paint. There was mostly porsche/viper...other sportscar guys...who don't seem to friendly after you pass them.

sorry for the big pics

thanks boss!

Oh yeah I had 1 problem I seem to be revving the **** out of the motor...all 3rd and 4th gear but 4th seems so useless. I was using the limiter all day trying to get the most outta the sohc. Would a higher final drive make 4th more useful?

Yes, a final drive will definitely help especially at a track like mosport. I was only in 4th gear at the back straight before but once i got my 4.8 fd installed, the car hits 5th gear at about the last hump. Very cool!

Nice pics btw!

what is that on the back window? looks like a big suction cup or some kind of a camera arm mount...

and what is that in the front bumper, hard to tell from the angle... tow hook?

how are you belted in? I can't tell if there is a roll-bar in those pics.

nice splitter too... I wonder if there'd be anything non-ITA-legal about it.

sorry for all the random thoughts/questions, fellow EF owner just getting excited

Ok cool I felt like I was rowing a boat with all the shifting going on. I would hit the limiter in 3rd on the front straight then brake and go around 1 to hit the limiter again then into 4th for like 1 sec and back into 3rd down 2 then 4th for a sec back into 3rd blah blah blah. I hit 190ish on the back straight in 4th before braking.

I'm sure the car can do low 40's with more experience and no traffic .

Thanks guys for all the nice comments...I was going to sell it to buy a motorcycle but if you guys like it so much I might just have to keep it

The splitter is plywood...like as in Home Depot

I couldn't find any sheet metal on a staurday that wasn't too flimsy to extend it so far and the wood weighs nothing and is very stiff. On the back straight I was hitting 190+km/hr with the splitter without it I was maxing out at 180 somthing...yeah I know I can't believe it either.

Only thing that fell apart was the sheet metal between the splitter and bumper but thats a easy fix. If I can find aluminum sheeting thats really stiff I'll use that. But it works real nice for something that cost like $20 to make on a sat /sun

You have to pull the whole bumper off to tow it so the bumper comes off by removing 4 philleps screws and 4 10mm bolts...like maybe a 50 sec job.

but no I don't have any pics of brackets and stuff ,its bolted to the bumper and then there are some brakets coming down from the front x-member and it bolts to them. Its pretty stiff I can probaly stand on it.

More wood

Hey Ben its Vivek

The camera mount is a big suction cup thingy...but theres a problem...I put it on in April and I haven't been able to get it off I have to give it back to a friend in a month so if I can't pull it off without damaging it I'll just replace the rear window with a lexan piece and give him the whole window

I'm not sure what you are looking at in the front bumper ben? The oil cooler?...there is a hole for the air for the intake?

Yes yes may you look down apon me I use a harness with no bar...the bar should be made soon but at 5'7 107lbs I'll fly out the window without one+I drive much better with the harness+I sit on the floor

I don't think I would run the splitter(or such a big one) for W2W because you have to setup the front and back of the car differently then without it so if it were to get mangled in the middle of a race you would have a ill handling car. But it made such a big diff I guess if you can keep your nose clean then its worth it

You're doing 1:40's in that car? Man, what do you have under the hood and for suspension. You must be quite the driver...

I just did a 1:40 and i got a b series motor, and its a racecar.....

no not 40 ,40 is fast I'm pretty sure I can pull a 44, my car is far from a street car with the revalved bilstiens and 650/900 rates...I can't drive it on the street as it is open header. So it would be a race car as well minus the cage/ saftey equip.

But the motor only makes 115hp on the dyno...so I loose a lot of ground to the B guys on the straight. But I'm pretty sure I'm as fast or faster then most in the corners. At shannonville I have pulled 1:19 on pro and high 1:15 on fabi.
But I doubt I'll see a 44 if I cant figure out how the gears work at the top of 2 and 4.

I guess if you guys want a splitter then this would be a good/easier option then making your own http://roadracegear.com/ but I always like to try to make my own stuff if I can.

I want to run it, but for that kind of coin you can do Shannonville nearly 4 times.

this is neat and all, but, shouldn't this be under "Appearance/Cosmetic"?

guys in previous threads were asking about suspension setups and had their thread locked. This thread is obviously about someone showing their car off navigating Mosport.

btw, nice pictures...
