Default D16z6 crank in D15b7 block???? pros cons, problems, need information.

ok im pulling my old D15 and im putting in another temporary D15b cause i got the engine and tranny for 200, Ive head u can put the d16z6 crank in the d15 and it will bump the displacement to 1.6. i need some more info on this, like parts required, and so on, also i would then want to sleeve the block, add a vtec head, and do some upgraded pistons and rods. and then run about 15psi daily. i know everyone will say just get a d16z6 swap and use that, well i have this block hear already and i can get a crank for like 40-50 bucks, and get the head for 200, so thats cheaper than the swap. thanks for the help

The 1.6L crank will not fit into the 1.5L block without MAJOR modifications ( I will not say that it won't work, because if you have the $ you can make anything work). But, it will cost you more to swap cranks than it would to find a 1.6L block.

My $.02

journals are different . You must also factor in deck height differences, rod/length differences, etc etc. Better off just sourcing a 1.6 sohc block. its not hard, everyone i have in my garage was acquired for free, or no more then 50 bucks.

the D16 main journals are 10 mm bigger then the D15 main journals.

Even if you removed the main bearings in the D15 block, the D16 crank still would not fit.
