Default Best exhaust for 97 integra gs-r, no-turbo.

Apex N-1, Tanabe racing medallion, 5zigen fireball, greddy sp, or greddy evo?
I want the DEEPEST and best exhaust for good hp gains and full power throughout the power band. I heard Apex and tanabe can be loud, which may not be good for me. I also heard that many of these exhausts are high flow which makes the car lose backpressure and in return, low end power. Is this true or bullshit? I have aem cai and dc 421 ceramic headers already. Any suggestions or feedback on these exhausts or others specifically for 94-00 gs-r's? Remember, I want a deep sounding exhaust that can get kinda loud only if i want it to.

For your NA application, I would recommend a 60mm inner diameter exhaust. Most all of the JDM after market exhausts fall under this category (Tanabe, Apex, 5zigen, etc.) Note that my tanabe hyper medallion required me to modify the flange on the B pipe to get rid of a bottleneck once I went to 60mm from my A pipe back with my DC JDM header. Just make sure when you select yours is has this so it does not become a bottleneck later when you push big power.

As long as you don't go too big for your application (such as a 3" exhaust), you won't lose low end power from an exhaust. The whole point of an after market exhaust is to have high flow.

Once you've gotten an exhaust with the proper inner diameter, the main difference is the exhaust note (sound) and looks. Any N-1 exhaust is just loud. Unless you want to always be loud, don't get an N-1. The tanabe racing medallion is also much louder than their relatively quiet G-power and Hyper medallion. As I mentioned, I have the Hyper medallion and I love it. The 5zigen is notoriously loud. The Greddy's are known for being quieter. RS-R's are very quiet, but the only one we can get here now in the US is the rebadged Skunk2 version. It looks very nice and isn't too loud from the one application I've heard.

ninjaman,

Is there only one model of skunk 2 exhaust found here in the u.s.? One of the shops in my town said that they had a new skunk 2 exhaust in stock. On the application that you heard, was the tone relatively deep and low? I might be very interested in this system if it is really an RSR.

Thanks
