Default =Best catback exhaust for GSR=

Alright ya'll, I'm def. gonna buy a cat back exhaust here, shortly. I'm just stuck on which one to get. If ya could offer your opinions, expertise, pros/cons, to which company offers quality cat backs. btw I have a 94 GSR. I'm split between GReddy, and Tanabe Racing Medallion. Any help is appreciated.

I have the tanabe DTM, and the sound it produces, I don't even drive with my radio on any more.

it looks good, I think, but you have to keep the bumper washed often as the exhaust gets all over it because of the tips turned upward. if you wash it weekly it isn't a problem though.

i love the way the apex n1 looks on the integra but i went with the tanabe g power and it sounds and looks great but if i get another exhaust it's going to be the n1...i have the n1 on my hatchback and it makes it sound like a supra, it's deep!

here's some pics...

I suggest Thermal R&D. It's fully SS, so the insides won't rust out after 3 years like the others mentioned (except the DC, which is also SS).

I have the Greddy Evo, and i despise it. It looked preety cool on the wall at the shop though. Oh well. Everything I orig. put on the car has been preety much replaced. Think it through. I wish I had. Also, what about the new Skunk 2 exhaust? People are saying it is a rebadged RSR invidia(sp?), and people seemed to realy like that exhaust (if I remember correctly).

whatever you go with make sure its bigger than 2.25 diameter piping....i switched from Greddy SP (60mm piping, about 2.35-2.4 in) to a stainless steel 2.25 in piping and i can feel a loss in power

2.25" is more than enough for a teg with less than 170-180 ish to the wheels (which bolt-ons can't give you). If you have a lot of work done, reving high, or just making good power, go with 2.5" . Good luck, -C

I have a Tanabe Racing Medallion (2.5") for like more than 3 years now.

Let me tell you something, that exhaust is freaking loud. Your passengers
that sit in the back are going to go deaf especially if your car is a hatch.
I started to get fukking annoyed with it because it was insanely motorcycle
sounding when I was in V-tec.

HOWEVER... Once I put turbo in my GSR, only the 3" thermal sounds more
badass than my exhaust system.

Let me put it to you this way, I freak out V8 guys in my 4 banger and whenever
I backfire it looks like my exhaust is a bazooka cannon shooting out big fireballs.

My .02

Just remember to plan ahead, I say get a 2.5" b/c you know you are going to force induct your ride on of these days! LOL

ITR exhaust is 2.25" mandrel dent, stainless steel. It bolts right onto '00-01 GSR's, and needs to be extended 4" to fit '94-99 GSR's. HTH, -C

Hmmmm,

I have an old Greddy BL, I believe it's also 60 mm. Is the tannabe (sp) really 2.5? I thought there were no true 2.5 inch "maintstream" exhausts for tegs, and that is why there were so many threads recently looking for a true 2.5 inch exhaust.

Anyway, I really need to replace my header and cat (Neuspeed 4-2-1 and RT), but since the Greddy is ~2.35 inches or whatever, maybe I can modify and keep it to save a little money. I hate the way it looks though, lol.
