AUTOMATIC GSR question
I know an auto GSR and auto b16 were offered in Japan
does anyone know how an auto tranny can take advantage of the VTEC offered in auto GSR's in japan.. why would honda offer one if the auto tranny would never take advantage of vtec?
did the auto tranny have diffrent gear ratios and such? did the JDM auto VTEC ecu lower the vtec crossover point at a lower RPM?
Also.. whats the diff. between an auto GSR tranny and an auto LS tranny?
I have heard that the auto GSR tranny is the same as the auto LS tranny offered here in america? is this true?
can someone clear up this confusion?
thanks

it wouldn't use vtec because for an auto tranny.. wouldn't the auto tranny shift usually around 4k rpm . .and since vtec dosen't activate until what? 5k? wouldn't an auto tranny miss vtec completely?
if it does.. why would honda even make an auto GSR?

The vtec auto tranny has different gear ratios. I have heard that you can use a b16a auto tranny with a GSR motor to take advantage of the power band. You would need the ecu from an auto jdm integra sir-g (??) though.

Not unless you WOT. At WOT, the AT shifts about 200 rpm lower than the redline.
Do you know that all 5th gen Preludes have VTEC? Even in the SportShift (basically the AT) models.
