B16/B18 Vtec, Auto Tranny????
OK I'm lookin at doing a swap (some of you might have seen some of my previous posts regarding this)... right now, I'm looking at a LS longblock since I know that there is an available Auto Tranny for it. (I'm REALLY set on leaving auto, so please don't try to convince me otherwise - and YES!! I CAN drive stick, just rather not).
Recently I've been debating whether to stick auto or not due to parts availability for the other motors. I'm wondering if and where there is an Auto Tranny for a B16 or B18 Vtec Engine??? Does such a thing exist???
ALL comments welcome... heck I might even reply to some flames and make this fun as long as I can get some sort of real info.
TIA

Yes there were auto versions of both the B16A and B18C (GSR) in Japan. I'm not experienced with auto tranny's but I know that they exist and can be had fairly cheap from most JDM engine importers since there is no demand for them. A person near me installed an auto B tranny from a JDM SiR-G (B18C GSR) into his 95 Integra LS which he got from IAS for $350.
There was no difference in the shifting because I assume it is due to the fact that the ECU controls the shift points. Since he retained his stock LS ECU it shifts at the same points. There is a slightly noticeable acceleration difference when shifting through the gears though.

what part of NY are you from? A friend of mine has a JDM B16 Auto tranny just laying in his garage. If you want it I'm sure it will be cheap. I'm just a couple minutes from Niagara Falls if you are interested (pm me if you are).

I thought the shift points were controlled by a TCM unit? does anyone have a b16a TCM unit for sale? I believe it is conntected with the Cruise control module.

Auto might be good for bracket racing
For the powerplant, I'd definitly go for the torqeir B18, over the b16, I know that wasn't really part of your questions...
