what is a egr control sol valve

I am getting a egr code and I seam to think it is the egr control sol valve
or at least thats what my chiltons manual is calling it anyone know how to test it or my egr valve.

the egr valve is located on the intake manifold by the left side of the engine. check the plugs connection, you also might want to take it off (2 nuts) and check to see if it clogged. I don't have my helms with me right now to tell you how to test it. (if you need one i have an extra)
