Resetting the ECU, or check engine light...?
the reason I ask is because my current ecu is throwing a code 9... CYP distributor. But I dont want to got and get one... I am looking to swap at the end of the month, and need to get my car CA smogged. Once I get the sucker smogged, then I am home free for at least two years.
So, the only problem is that my check engine light is still on... because of the code 9. The car passes the emissions test, but they have failed me becuase of my check engine light. I have tried to reset the ecu, (unplug bat cables, and pull ecu fuse) but the light keeps coming on. I think that there is a back up ecu... where is that located. Everything is accounted for under the hood and under the dash. How do I get rid of the CIL?
Please help.
Thanks

if you are able to get it to pass smog but the light will not go out, take out the light. when you are finished with the test, put it back in.
the light is supposed to blink on for a second and then turn off. I tried that already... and they told me right out of the gate that it would not pass... as malfunctioning CIL.
