Yes, congrats to Ryan. Nice job.
Is Daddio an autocross God or what? His margin of victory was decisive (> 1 sec.).
Casey, who wishes he had half that kind of talent....

When Daddio was running his Neon in stock... lost of people speculated that he dominated becuase he had trick shocks and such.. I think this should end that argument...

He is that fast. Nobody was really even close to him. I was about a consistent 6-8 tenths I'd say behind him so I was satisfied with that. I was running about a 36.4-36.6 compared to his times mostly ranging from 35.5-35.9. It was fun just watching him. I couldn't believe how much speed he was carrying throughout the whole course.
I'm still pissed of my own stupidity that kept me out of the top 10. On one of the cars I ran my first run of 36.4 and thought it was clean. I didn't even think to check to see if I coned as in my mind I was that sure that it was clean. I was a little too much off line the next run in the car and knew I had blew the run compared to my last time so I didn't try to save from dnfing. I would have been at spot 6 if I hadn't of coned. I can't say I should have been at 6 because if I had coned I would have been more conservative on my next run but I could have run my slowest time of the day and still been in the top 10 if I had only known that. I'm the only one to blame though so better luck next time.
Overall I had a great time on the trip. Thanks to Mazda and AMCI for putting on a great event. Hopefully I might have a chance to make it back next year. Everybody there was very nice and couldn't have made the trip any better than it was.

Oh yeah, and those times are 4 runs combined so the results weren't as far off as they might seem.
The format for elimination rounds were 4 cars, 2 runs in each, and take your best run of each car.

Yep congrats.
How long did the whole trip last?
Did the final at Laguna also follow the autox setup as the regular events, or were parts of the track used? So are you guys optimistic that Mazda will put something like this again next year, what's the word on that?

beat the pro race(try to beat jason harts time) and mark daddio won this too.
leave for the afternoon
around 6 leave to go kayaking around monterey bay and end up on beach for the cookout on the beach. Stay there for a few hours and enjoy fire, dinner, and other activities.
Oh yeah. The races on saturday afternoon were all in the new rx8. I have to say it was an amazing car to drive.
sunday:

Some of us got to stay until monday to leave since we were all the way across the country. So I got to hang around with some of the other competitors and get to see some of the area. I am currently uploading pics and will have them all online very soon for viewing.

Cool.. what was the car up for grabs?
Being in NE, I get to see Mark run frequently. Fast, fast fast.

The whole thing for Mazda Rev-It-Up was to compete and win the city.
The winner of the city (15 people) and the other top 5 scorers went to Laguna Seca to auto-x for a new Mazda 6.
Evidently, the car can be optioned out to the max, on Mazdas dime (not including taxes, title, reg).
That's the skinny.
It's all Marks. He said he's going to keep it too. He's been looking for a daily driver.

At an Evolution school way back in the day, Nick Leverone was quoted as saying: "Daddio is a goddamn robot..."
Congrats to all....

To which point Salerno, when Daddio was making his final runs, was doing 'color commentary' with the regular announcer calling him 'Commander Data' and going "doo dee beep dee boop dee" etc... (Making data sounds)
Say what? Kayaking around Monterrey bay? Between that and all the other hospitality, sounds like the Mazda folks treated everyone really well. Nice bit of PR on their part.
Casey, who sez don't tell me they flew you in first class 'cause then I'll really be jealous....

i had a great time!
The consulation runs was basically a fun run.. i finished 12th out of the 20 overall. so i missed the cut by a few tenths..
i Had fun swingin the 8 around.. strange car to drive when iv only driven a rear wheel car twice, the first being the miata at the atlanta event..
Good meeting KC and ryan, hopefully we will meet again sometime.

Mike King is a monster in his own right.
That guy can hop in any car and without any preparation whip pretty much anyone's ***. Easily one of the top 5 autocrossers in the country.
Ryan. Nice work.

awwww come on, its Lieutenant Data!
I was under the impression that the finals were on the Laguna Roadcourse, since in the commercials they showed video of a 6 coming down the corkscrew, but it was in fact a autoX course?
