clutch questions
I've always had questions about the clutch but never really cared until now that my clutch seems to be dead. I did a quick search but still have some unanswered questions. I believe its either the master or slave cylinder giving me problems as I do not have pressure in the petal anymore. How much does a master cylinder usually go for, and how about a slave one? What kind of fluid do you put in the clutch system? Same as the brake system?
you can check out hparts.com, slhondaparts.com, and hondaautomotiveparts.com and look there for new oem parts. you should check for fluid leakage from or around you master and slave cylinder, ususally they don't both die at the same time. but fluid leaking on the inside of the car is a good indication of a bad master cylinder, and fluid near the slave cylinder well that speak for it self. are you sure its you master cylinder or slave, and not a dead clutch. you can use dot 3 4 or 5 fluid , i don't know which is best. i just bleed a clutch last nite and use dot 3 , it was all i can find.
Thanks. I just bled my clutch and everything is normal now. I bought this car used and its at 100,000 miles roughly so I have no idea if it was ever bled. The fluids looked kind of low but now everything is working once I bled it.
Would you say its normal to have some fluid disappear if one was not to maintain their clutch fluid since day one of purchase until 100,000 miles?

well the clutch system is supposed to be a sealed system, i guess after 100k miles alittle will leak past seals, but if you needed to bleed the clutch then there may be another problem, air is getting inot the system some how.
