Type R engine swap questions
I have a couple of questions that I was hoping someone out there familiar with engine swaps could answer for me. I want to drop a JDM Type-R engine into my 1990 Integra GS.
1. Has anyone tried this swap, can it be done, and how hard is it?
2. Do I need other big parts to complete this swap (such as transmission, etc.)?
3. Since JDM Integras have right-sided drivers, will there be a problem swapping the engine since USDM are left-sided drivers?
4. Can you use USDM Type R engine parts for the JDM engine? (Both regular maintenance items and aftermarket performance parts.)
Thanks in advance for your help.

1. can be done, dunno how hard is it
2. you COULD use your tranny, but you probably want the tranny from the type R
3. i think the wiring harness will give you problems, either get a USDM one or modify it.
4. Yes, most parts will be interchangable

I wish you great luck in the swap. I would love to do that one, too. I considered it once and did a little research. There is some company in California that claims they can install a B18C5 into a '90 GS for $6000(includes motor, transmission, installation). I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the company; but my point is that it can be done.
I believe member Slowerthanu may have put a B18C5 in his G2??

what everyone else said
also, you may be able to get more in depth answers from people that have done it before from the hybrid section. maybe a mod will even move this thread over there for you, who knows ?
good luck!

Friend of mine did this (Serenity)
All you need is wiring harness for ecu.
New Throttle Cable
Engine wiring harness
And that's it pretty much a straight drop in... This is if you intend to get a complete swap.
If you do get an ITR complete swap Get the jdm one instead of US
Diff. is compression jdm 11:1 vs US 10:???
98+ JDM ITR has the JDM 4-1 headers also FD is 4.75 better gear ratio
JDM has little more HP then the US.
Be aware JDM will not pass smog.
That is all...
