Default SOHC ( d16z6 ) Whps. on stock internals.

I just had someone call me with this info:

He told me that his little brother was running 10psi on a greddy kit with the blue box and no intercooler. He only pulled 145whp. That scared me alot. I'm guessing because of no intercooler right?

Can anyone show me their WHP and what psi they're at? Thanks.

What was he smoking when he decided to run 10psi without an intercooler? He should have been closer to 200whp or a little more if he had done it correctly.

That's what I said man.

7psi puts people to like 160-170 whp on that motor. Sheesh

when i was running 6psi i dyno'd 145whp and 138wtq on my homemade setup. he should be getting much more than that, but lack of fmic is hurting him and will destroy his engine from too hot a charge. he might not be detonating if he is running so rich that it keeps him from detonating, but he will eventually kill his engine anyway. probably wash the cylinders and lose compression if not already on the way towards that.

i haven't dyno'd my car since i upped it to 10psi, but it's definately way more than 145whp.

300whp is obtainable if you set-up the engine right on stock internals.

What would be an example of setting the engine up right? Some form of EMS, injectors? what would be a worthwhile formula?

3mm headgasket, apr headstuds, skunk2 intake manifold or y8 IM, t3/to4e 50 trim with a .63a/r exhaust housing stage 3 turbine blade, 550cc injectors, Walboro 255lph fuel pump, Hondata s100 with boost, 3" dp and 3" exhaust; no cats or resonators. The static compression will be in the mid 8:1 level, you let the turbocharger make the power by running higher boost level to achieve power output. Pull the timing back conservative to reduce cylinder pressure and run the engine at 12:1 air/fuel. Busteded9 made 295whp level with the set-up above minus the hondata, all stock internals and ran a 11.8 in the 1/4.

Awesome. Now I have a template to follow and something to shoot for. How much for the intercooler picked up. I am in philly. How far away are you from there. IM me.

Sounds almost exactly like my plan except I will be using a built shortblock and Hondata S200.

that was my car, it was done at 16.5psi, i ran a greddy 2mm headgasket, ran the stock crx si intake manifold, 430cc inj, 2.5" dp open, ign was at about 17 or 18deg with btm set at about .20/lb of boost, car made 302hp 251tq sae corrected.. new setup will be done with different things such as 3mm headgasket 550inj, and a few more little new toys

tuning is the key...
