Bolt Rounded. How do I get the seats out?
http://www.import-enthusiasts.com/stuff/boltx3.jpg
Ok. this is the driver side. The bolt is starting to round off, and as most of you know there is very little room to work back there.
So how do I break the bolt loose?
Any one else ever have a problem like this?

How in the world did you round it? Were you using a 12pt socket or something?</TD></TR></TABLE>
yea
My other one is missing, so I used my cheap ones. The other one came out ok, but now I have one on the passenger and one on the driver that just wont come out. I even tried a cresent and it started rounding it.

That is funny. Not that you can't get your seat out but that i have been fighting with my passenger side seat back left bolt for over a week now. My bolt has completely rounded off. I have tried everything from chisel and hammer to trying to beat a smaller socket on to the bolt. Nothing will give. I am just wondering though, can you move your seat around? I can rotate my seat and the bolt will move with it for the couple of inches i can move my seat. If i figure out how to get it off I will definetly let you know something!
try a gator grip, that socket from the 'as seen on tv' stores.
It works pretty well and should adjust itself to fit what's left of your bolt.

yeah i pulled a chester move when i was putting
my seat back in, all the change that fell out of my pocket over time
clogged up my recliner an it wouldn't move, so i took the seat out
turned it upside down, shook it vigorusly, and voila recliner worked
but when i put it back in i used an air wrench and crossthreaded it
so i fixed it with a die grinder set

Some tool manufacturers make a tool called an "Impact wrench"
similar to the tool that is used by pit crews and body shops, except theirs is a drill set-up. The impact wrench is a large-bodied driver with changeable heads (ie: sockets, philips, flat, etc.) that is placed on the nut and then hammered. Everytime it's hammered the wrench turns slightly, slowly working the bolt loose without stripping it.
works wonders.

Just get a bolt extractor.
drill a hole into the bolt, hammer in the extractor, and unscrew the bitch. If you can't find the part locally, you can get it from http://www.eppys.com. A set of 1/4"-1/2" extractors is $13.44. The part number is LIS 62900. Ask for keith. He is their rep on Preludeonline.com. phone 800-441-6117

you should be fine if you go with a 6 point. 12 points round them off because they are 6 sided bolts, but don't round them enough that you can't get a 6 point on and get the bolt out. If it's really f'ing stuck get a "manual" impact driver... you can get them at sears. Works just like an impact gun, but you hold it in one hand and hit the top using your other hand with a hammer. Puts some good torque on the bizatch to atleast brake it loose for you
the craftsman tool is your best bet we removed some stripped lugnuts.. its worth every penny.. go get it and save yourself the headache!
The tool in case you didnt know is basically a set of sockets that work like a reverse drillbit its threaded opposite of a drillbit so it can grab what your trying to remove... its craftsman, go to sears they'll know what you mean. good luck

i finally got that bolt out the other day. My friend and i used vice grips and a set of pliers(or however it is spelled). We used the pliers to squeeze the vice grips around the rounded bolt and turned the bolt that way. took a few minutes but now my interior is changed out so it was worth it!
